LOCAL 2000 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY FAMILY CELEBRATION: This year’s event is already being planned for Sunday, September 1st. Volunteers are needed for setting up, working the food line and cleaning up after the event. The first 50 volunteers will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s event, please contact Linda via email linda@uawlocal2000.org or at 440.934.3151, extension 0 to sign up and give your t-shirt size.

UPCOMING SPECIAL ELECTION: We are currently preparing for the election for the offices of 1st Vice President and Financial Secretary. We will release the details as soon as possible. Please note: There are qualifications for running for office. If you have any questions, please reach out to the union hall.

UPDATE ON WEB PAGE AND NEWSPAPER: We are looking for members who are interested in joining the Newspaper Committee. Newspaper Committee members maintain our official Facebook page, the web page and work on the Local 2000 Vanguard newspaper. We won’t have a newspaper or web page that is up to date until we are able to find volunteers. FYI: UAW Local 2000 only has one OFFICIAL Facebook page and that is called UAW Local 2000. All of the Local 2000 member pages are maintained by the members who created them and are not official Local 2000 pages.

UAW FORD ROUGE POWERHOUSE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: There will be 41 $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded in 2024 to incoming Fall 2024 college freshmen. Please visit https://learnmore.scholarsapply.org/rouge/ for further details.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR ODJFS CORRESPONDENCE INBOX. Members are finding that they were sent correspondence from the ODJFS in recent years (since the last layoffs) requesting documents for the identity verification. These members were back charged all the money they received from ODJFS from when they actually had legitimate layoffs because they didn’t respond to the correspondence in their ODJFS inbox. Please check your inbox and make sure that you have not been sent one of these notices and that they’re not saying you owe them money. If you check and they’re stating that you owe them money, you will need to get that resolved before there is another layoff.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: The next General Membership meeting is Sunday, June 9th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village. Please attend and be informed.
