2025 Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Application & Eligibility Requirements

NOTICE RICHARD T. GOSSER SCHOLARSHIP TO BE ELIGIBLE: 1. An applicant must be a son, daughter or ward of a member in good standing of a Local Union affiliated with the Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Program, and who is not employed full-time by the International Union. 2. An Applicant must be a Senior of a high school class graduating between January 2026 and June 2026. 3. After filling out the application form completely, have it certified with a signature by a Local Union President, Vice-President, Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary or Chairman and mail to: Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Program, 1691 Woodlands Drive, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Application must be sent via Regular U.S. Mail, POSTMARKED no later than October 15, 2025, NO EXCEPTIONS. THIS DEADLINE IS FIRM AND NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE! Note: It is not necessary to submit anything but the application at this time. ACT test scores are not due until February 20, 2026. REGARDING ACT TEST: If the applicant has NOT previously taken the ACT Test, the taking of this test during one of the coming months of SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, OR DECEMBER is a requirement. The SAT test DOES “NOT” qualify. You may register at www.actstudent.org and list code #9894. ACT scores need to be sent directly to the Richard T. LOCAL 2000 – INFORMATION BULLETIN – 7/3/25 H LINE – DAYS (TWO WEEKS) AND EXTENDED TLO INSTRUCTIONS * EXTENDED TLO MUST ALSO USE THIS MASS LAYOFF NUMBER * YOU MAY NEED TO CALL YOUR PROCESSING CENTER OR USE THE LIVE CHAT OPTION TO REOPEN YOUR APPLICATION FOR BENEFITS. The processing center number is located on the top of past correspondences you’ve received from the ODJFS. Business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays. You have to call them to reopen your claim because you were laid off a few weeks ago and all of those weeks haven’t cleared yet, meaning the correct date won’t be offered online OR on the 877#. Whether you go online or call the 877# to reopen your application for benefits, the correct date you need will not be available. Another option is using the “live chat” option on the front page of the ODJFS unemployment home page in the bottom right corner. If you get on early, you are usually assisted in just a few minutes. Please tell the processing center this as soon as you get them on the phone or in live chat: The date offered by ODJFS as the effective date for me to reopen my claim is incorrect. My last day of work was 07/04/2025 (for unemployment purposes) so my effective date is 07/06/2025. DO NOT use the date ODJFS is offering because it will create a break in claim and I won’t get paid. Don’t answer the union questions because we’re not a hiring hall. Don’t answer NO to the job search. If asked for jobs click YES, then enter Ohio Assembly Plant, 650 Miller Road, Avon Lake, OH 44012 in both job spaces and type the mass layoff number after Ohio Assembly plant. Reopen your application for unemployment benefits using Mass Layoff # 2500451. Your last day worked is 07/04/2025 (for unemployment purposes) and your return to work date is 07/21/2025. PLEASE NOTE: You may still need to call your processing center or use the live chat option to reopen your claim once on Monday, 07/07/2025 and then visit the ODJFS web site two times afterward to file for unemployment benefits, see below: MON., JULY 7, 2025 – Call your PC or use the live chat option to reopen application. SUN., JULY 13, 2025 – Claim layoff week ending JULY 12, 2025. SUN., JULY 20, 2025 – Claim layoff week ending JULY 19, 2025. FOR ASSISTANCE WITH CLAIMS ISSUES (pay held, denied, break in claim) please call the processing center and schedule a return call or you can use the live chat option in the bottom right corner of the main page (once you log in) to get assistance with claim issues and even with reopening your claim when the correct date isn’t available online or on the 877#. LOCAL 2000 – INFORMATION BULLETIN – JUNE 26, 2025 PHONES AT THE UNION HALL: Our phones at the union hall are still down because our old company has been keeping our phone numbers hostage this entire time. We are told they will be released to the new provider sometime next week. Please continue to leave messages on our voicemail or via email during normal business hours to contact us until this issue is fixed. We’re checking our messages hourly so we will get back with you as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience but it’s something that is completely out of our control. We thank the membership for your patience during this time. Any member who doesn’t have 40 hours and didn’t work this week will continue your unemployment and claim the holiday pay when you claim the week of July 6th. SHUTDOWN SCHEDULE for the union hall, OHAP HR and benefits office: The union hall will be open normal business hours during shutdown, except for Friday, July 4th. OHAP Human Resources department will be open Monday through Thursday, 7 AM – noon. The benefits office will be closed during shutdown. THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY FAMILY CELEBRATION is SUNDAY, August 31st from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM. There will be live bands, boat rides, face painters, a magician, food vendors, a car show, kids’ rides and a big prize giveaway at . UAW Local 2000 will be serving hotdogs, pop and water at the food tent. The raffle for the prizes will be held at 5:30 sharp and you must be present to claim your prize. Be sure to get your ticket for the raffle from the ticket tent by 5:00 PM. Bring your family and friends for a fun and affordable day of entertainment! ANNUAL UAW REGION 2-B RICHARD T. GOSSER SCHOLARSHIP GOLF CLASSIC INVITATIONAL: Two foursomes are needed from our membership to golf in the Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Invitational on Sunday, July 27th at the Whiteford Valley Golf Club, 7980 Beck Road in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, 49267. The entry fee for the outing is prepaid. If interested, please drop off a list of their team members to the union hall (including team members’ addresses and phone numbers) or email your list to linda@uawlocal2000.org now through Wednesday, July 2nd during normal business hours (8:30 AM to noon and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM). A random drawing will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd at 4:30 PM at the union hall for one team to represent Local 2000. Lost time or expenses will not be paid for attending.
